Wood-Nettle Genus Details
Wood nettle is in the same family as the stinging nettle (Urticaceae). It has opposite leaves and 4-sided stems with stinging hairs. It is a weed found in disturbed areas, farmyards, roadsides and pastures. The sharp pointed hairs have a bulbous base filled with irritating fluid. These hairs break when they penetrate the skin, releasing the fluid.

Pollen grains are oblate-spheroidal to spheroidal, and are small with a rounded-triangular amb. The grains are 2-4 porate and the pores are circular.
Pollen grains are usually 12-15 micrometers.
